ANOTHER TOP PICK!!!!
I am thrilled and thankful beyond comprehension and God knows how much this means to me! (Thank you, Lord!)
Here's what the reviewer had to say:
Air Force pararescue jumper Manny Pena has been seriously hurt during a routine jump. His long recuperation will take place in the town of Refuge at the home of a friend and fellow jumper. This brings Manny into constant contact with Celia Munoz, the best friend to Manny's best friend's wife. The two can't seem to stop knocking heads -- until their true hearts' desires are revealed. There is a connectedness that grows by leaps and bounds in this exceptional story by Cheryl Wyatt. Don't miss A Soldier's Family (4.5).

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW AND CHANCE TO WIN FREE BOOK
http://www.donnafleisher.typepad.com/
Zondervan author, friend and freelance editor Donna Fleisher has graciously featured my debut novel on her blog. Now, granted the woman doesn't read romance...or care for romance novels...but she read my book. The sign of a true friend and sister indeed.
The best part is, she helped me to understand the rank tier for the Air Force since she served. We've both had the honor of writing for Sarah Horn's www.agreaterfreedom.com and it has been grand getting to know Donna. She has the most wonderful heart for God and hilarious sense of humor you could imagine.
So bip on over to her blog and bop down a comment there letting her know if you'd like to be entered in her drawing for a free, autographed copy of my debut novel...A Soldier's Promise...which is a Romantic Times Top Pick for January, 2008.
Thanks for hanging tuff during my blog tour all!
There are still chances out there to win a free copy of my book.
Just click the title link above to be taken to Donna's site, or past her URL into your browser.
Hope to see you over there!

PATRY FRANCIS and LIAR'S DIARY BLOG DAY

Okay,
Several hundred authors and publishing industry professionals have deemed this Patry Francis and Liar's Diary Blog Day.
Why?
Patry is a former waitress-turned-author who was recently diagnosed with an agressive form of cancer....
To hear it from Patry's own words as pasted here from one of her blog entries will show you not only what she's facing, but her realness and courage in the face of a devastating diagnoses:
"Three weeks ago I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Then the news got worse: a cat scan revealed spots on my liver, a possible metastasis.
So how does a lifelong neurotic and avowed hypochondriac deal with that kind of news? Initially, not too well. The day I got the scan results I went home, drank too much wine, cried, yelled at the wonderful husband who was as anxious as I was, and avoided calls from friends and family members. I preferred to sit in the dark and drink my misery to the last drop; thank you very much.
But the next morning I woke up in a different frame of mind. It was a bright November morning; I had work I love to do; and after only twelve hours, I was already tired of my own despair and fear. I couldn't change the fact that I was ill; I couldn't make the road ahead pain or anxiety free, but I could get out of bed and take the dogs to the beach. I could pick up a common, translucent shell and hold it up to the light until it revealed just how uncommon it was. Then I could put it in my pocket and take it home to remind me--just in case I forgot.
Fortunately, last week an MRI revealed no sign of metastasis; and I'm optimistic about my surgery next Thursday. Still, it's been a difficult time. The other night I was watching a British movie called Greenfingers. In it, a character says, "You have to learn to make adversity your ally." I knew exactly what he was talking about. I may not be ready to call adversity my ally yet, but it is certainly my teacher.
One thing I learned was that for every ounce of trouble I was forced to drink, I would counter it with two ounces of bliss. Not the cheap bliss I attempted to find in a wine bottle, but the real thing. The kind I saw in that thin shell when I held it up to the light. The kind we all have inside us if we choose to draw on it.
I really think this is where we so often go wrong . When bad things happen--whether it's disease, rejection, mistreatment, percieved or otherwise--we allow it to control us. In other words, we pour ourselves another glass of poison when what we really need is the antidote--a double shot of BLISS!
My grandfather, who I called John, said it more succinctly: "No kick." (Translation: No complaints.) I've written about his two word exhortation here and elsewhere, but it has never meant more to me than it does right now. When asked to expand on his philosophy, he said, "Once you give in to complaining, you're all done."
Well, John, I'm not done yet.
Peace and love to all--"
So if you find it in your heart and your checkbook to help, I have a feeling God will pay you back.
The Liar's Diary can be purchased here: http://www.amazon.com/Liars-Diary-Patry-Francis/dp/0452289157/ref=reader_req_dp
Just so you know, the book is a bit sultry. But if you're opposed to that you can always flip past the pages if it looks like steam's wafting off them. GGG.
Also, Patry's publisher (Penquin) is offering the book at a 15% discount. http://us.penguingroup.com/nf/Book/BookDisplay/0,,9780452289154,00.html?
(After adding the book to your cart, enter the word PATRY in the coupon code field and click ‘update cart’ to activate the discount).
If the link doesn't work, just copy and paste it into your browser.
Also, if you'd like to participate in Patry Francis Day, feel free to post this, including purchase links, your blog or blogs today.
Visit her web site for more information:
http://www.patryfrancis.com/
Wouldn't it be grand to get Patry to number 1 on the bestsellers while she's battling so valiantly?
Patry, you're in my prayers. Praying for God to continue to infuse you with the necessary strength, courage and humor needed to get through this.

Self-editing Interview
Okay, the interview wasn't a self-editing one...LOL! But in this exclusive interview with Marjorie Vawter, I discuss my method for self-editing.
She also posted a review of my debut novel A Soldier's Promise.
Also, in Dineen's interview (Kittens come from Eggs) she's giving away a free, autographed copy of the book. So you have one week (I think it is) to enter so scroll back and check out Dineen's interview as well.
We're on the last leg of the blog tour....so as any PJ would say....hang tuff!

IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY

Yesterday, when I stopped home for lunch, my beautifully decorated tree was lying flat in the middle of the living room, and pieces of various ornaments were scattered across the living room and dining room floors! :( After significant tears, I reminded myself that they were just "things" and not worth the grief I was giving the whole scene. Still... my heart was broken.
Well... here comes the comedy.
So I didn't try to upright the tree myself because I knew it would be too much for me alone. So I waited until Dee & I both returned home last night (somewhere about 9p). We got the tree back upright in the stand, and spent about 30 minutes trying to dry the carpet from the gallon of water I had poured into the stand the night before. Dee took all of the broken ornaments to the kitchen table to begin the superglue process, and I began the task of finding the loose lightbulbs so that the lights would work again and putting ornaments back on the tree.
I ran across a saddle ornament of Dee's, and a pair of cowboy boots that were previously strung by tiny rope (twine) to the bottom of the saddle. I took them to the superglue workshop, and saw that Dee was working on a butterfly of mine (that looked hopeless). So, I thought I'd help him out and re-affix the boots to the saddle. Having a hard time tying the rope, I decided a drop of superglue would be perfect on the knot.
Picture this... I'm holding the boots & Dee's holding the butterfly (a little ironic, don't ya think?), both of us waiting for the glue to dry and chit-chatting about the "bad day" we had both had... when, suddenly, I realized that the glue had been wicked up the rope, and my thumb, forefinger and tiny rope were all superglued together.
At the same time, Dee was complaining that the glue on the butterfly wasn't sticking the wing to the body as he had hoped... oh wait! That's because the wing was superglued to his thumb!
It's now 11p, and we both have extraneous, ornamental appendages and cannot find a way to get them loose. No video cameras please! Somehow, after some WD-40, and a healthy yank, Dee and the butterfly wing went their separate ways. However, I'm convinced that the A-OK position of my thumb and forefinger, with a piece of rope twine inbetween, are permanently glued together unless I literally rip the skin to pull them apart. For those of you who are saying, "why didn't she use fingernail polish remover?" She did. She also used WD-40, turpentine, and finally, with some gentle persuasion from a butter knife and some lighter fluid, my one rounded finger became two again. There was still the matter of separating the twine rope from my thumb... suffice it to say that while my thumbprint may be missing some of it's unique impressions, it no longer includes artificial threads. There may be some third-degree chemical burns to deal with...
but my Christmas tree is standing tall! :)

She opened it then slammed it shut &stormed back in the house. A little later she came out of her house again went to the mail box and again, opened it, slammed it shut again. Angrily, back into the house she went. As the man was getting ready to edge the lawn, here she came out again, marched to the mail box, opened it and then slammed it closed harder than ever. Puzzled by her actions the man asked her, "Is something wrong?" To which she replied, "There certainly is!" (Are you ready? This is a beauty...)

Gotta Love American Ingenuity..LOL!

A friend who knows I love anything military, e-mailed me these pictures and the story behind them. I got a good chuckle out of it.
The Story: For those too young to remember, or maybe never knew, during the Vietnam conflict, carriers were so woefully short of ordinance that missions were often launched with only a half load just to keep the sortie rate up so that the REMF's in DC would not send out blistering messages about failure to support the war effort, etc.
Given that the loss rate approached, and sometime exceeded, one aircraft a day, all will understand that there was a degree of reticence to launch with less than a full load -- if I must dance with the elephant at least let's make it worth while. Nevertheless, the indomitable spirit of the carrier aviators, and their squadron-mates, prevailed in some rather perverse way.
I have every hope that today's successors to the mantel left at the Cubi "O" Club bar persevere as well. Kick the tires, light the fires, bolt for the blue and brief on guard -- last one up is lead. Back in 'Nam', if you weren't on USS MIDWAY in Oct 1965, I thought you'd get a kick out of one squadron's ingenuity. Yes, this really happened. Once again history is stranger then fiction, an d a lot funnier:
The USS Midway VA-25's Toilet Bomb.
In October 1965, CDR Clarence J. Stoddard, Executive Officer of VA-25 "Fist of the Fleet", flying an A-1H Skyraider, NE/572 "Paper Tiger II" from Carrier Air Wing Two aboard USS Midway carried a special bomb to the North Vietnamese in commemoration of the 6-millionth pound of ordnance dropped. This bomb was unique because of the type... it was a toilet!
The following is an account of this event, courtesy of Clint Johnson, Captain, USNR Ret. Captain Johnson was one of the two VA-25 A-1 Skyraider pilots credited with shooting down a MiG-17 on June 20, 1965. Clint Johnson was also a classmate and Company-mate of mine at the Naval Academy.
572 was flown by CDR C. W. "Bill" Stoddard. His wingman in 577 was LCDR Robin Bacon, who had a wing station mounted movie camera (the only one remaining in the fleet from WWII).
The flight was a Dixie Station strike (off South Vietnam) going to the Delta. When they arrived in the target area and CDR Stoddard was reading the ordnance list to the FAC, he ended with "and one code name Sani-flush".
The FAC couldn't believe it and joined up to see it. It was dropped in a dive with LCDR Bacon flying tight wing position to film the drop. When it came off, it turned hole to the wind and almost struck his airplane.
It made a great ready room movie. The FAC said that it whistled all the way down. The toilet was a damaged toilet, which was going to be thrown overboard.
One of our plane captains rescued it and the ordnance crew made a rack, tailfins and nose fuse for it. The squadron flight deck checkers maintained a position to block the view of the Captain and Air Boss while the aircraft was taxiing onto the cata pult. Just as it was being shot off we got a 1MC message from the bridge, "What the hell was on 572's right wing?"

FUN STUFF COMING UP!!!

With the impending release of my debut novel in January, several blogs are graciously featuring me and my book over the next several weeks.
Some folks are doing reviews, some are doing interviews, some are having me do a guestblog. Most are going to be holding drawings for an autographed copy of my book on one (in some instances two) of their blogs. That's over 50 chances to win an autographed copy of my debut novel. So be sure and tell your romance reader friends and family.
On part of the blog tour, A Soldier's Promise main characters Amber, Joel and Bradley will be making guest appearances as well. :-) That should be fun, especially for those of you who've written to tell me that you've finished the book and hated to see the characters' stories end.
Also, the interviews aren't canned, meaning the same interview is posted on numerous blogs. Nope. We're bringing you all original content with this tour. Each interview features different questions than other interviews, and even some varying pictures. If the interviewer did happen to ask a question that I'd already been asked on a previous interview, I gave a different answer. LOL! For instance, if they asked what was the best piece of writing advice I've ever received, I'd mention the second best piece of advice.
So stay tuned for those blog links.
As soon as I get a concrete schedule for my blog tour, I will post it here.
Thanks for your support!
