Mission: Military Prayers-for military families separated at Christmas

This video says it all.

Praying for all deployed servicemen and women and their families this season.

The image of the female soldier and little baby REALLY got to me. Still sopping tears.

Please lift up these dedecated members of society and the families who will miss their presence this season.

Presence trumps presents every time. But if you know a military family who had a loved one deployed, consider giving them a gift as well as your prayers. Times are hard for them as most take pay cuts to serve.

Merry Christmas all!

Monterey Memories by Gail Gaymer Martin

Here's another good book to tell you about:

MONTEREY MEMORIES - Three novels by Gail Gaymer Martin set in the beautiful Monterey area in the central coast of California. The Barbour anthology includes the novels And Baby Makes Five, Garlic and Roses and Butterfly Trees.

Book Description
Walk the streets and countryside of Monterey, California, with three couples who are surprised by love in the midst of their busy lives. Chad helps Felisa when she goes into labor in his lettuce field. Juli meets Alan while volunteering at a soup kitchen. Ross takes an overdue vacation at Alissa’s bed-and-breakfast. Can busy people slow down enough to realize the love God has brought into their lives?

Reviews from AMAZON

Monterey Memories, an anthology, is a must buy. I truly love this book. In each of the three novels, set in the central coast of California, Gail writes of God's love with such ease and weaves His love throughout each story.

We see how faith and growth in the Word affects every aspect of the characters lives. Everyday normal people with trials and decisions, which we too, can identify. From trust, or acceptance to forgiveness, each of the story's characters learn to lean on God through their faith.

I'm adding this book to my gift list for friends and family. Who wouldn't want to find this warm, engrossing book in their stocking at Christmas? Or simply a gift to share.

A Hope and a Future by Don Wilton-B&H Publishing

I imagine many of you are out Christmas shopping. If you or someone you love enjoys reading, I recommend A Hope and a Future by Don Wilton. This book really was like opening a treasure chest that had many different compartments. I'd read a chapter and say, "This one's my favorite."

Until I got to the next chapter and the next. There is SO much life application in this book and it's a simple read, meaning it doesn't involve a lot of think-time or effort on the reader's part.

This book helped me to understand those around me as well as helped me to understand some things within myself and how to let God breathe on the hope He has placed inside us.

Jeremiah 29:11 is one of my favorite verses because it's filled with promise that God has a future and a hope for us. This book delves into that promise and shows it both applicably and practically. Don't miss this treasure of a book!

MORE ABOUT THE BOOK:
Pastor Don Wilton, who is also known as Billy Graham’s pastor, believes that discouragement is prevalent today and can have a negative impact on a person's family, work, ministry and relationships, and may also lead to health ailments and depression. To encourage those who are feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about their future, Wilton has written A Hope and a Future(B & H Books) to help people break the day-to-day discouragement cycle. “I want to provide principles and illustrations from God’s Word for people to live beyond their circumstances, and despite their situation, show that God can bring them through it,” Wilton says.

In A Hope and a Future,Pastor Wilton parallels the lives of biblical figures Nehemiah, Samuel and Moses, men who overcame discouragement by making a choice to take action. He also stresses the importance of understanding spiritual gifts, sharing your faith, giving to others, and knowing the spiritual enemy. A Hope and a Future helps people to:

Identify and overcome spiritual emptiness and spiritual burnout
Recognize the relationship between health and fulfilling their spiritual calling
Understand why God allows spiritual attacks on Christians
Combat spiritual attacks with armor of God
Understand the ten tactics Satan uses to discourage and seven defensive actions

I hope you will pick up two copies...one for yourself and one for a friend or family member. Everyone faces discouragement at some point in life. I believe this book will be like a balm to hearts during those seasons. Happy Holidays!
