Southern Friends

I'm still unable to drive following a motor vehicle accident and resulting surgeries, but once I'm able to make it to the Post Office regularly (we don't have courier pick up here) I will begin the Free Book Fridays where I'll give away a free Steeple Hill book EVERY FRIDAY to one lucky blog commentator.

In the meantime...thought I'd share this.

One of my best Southern friends sent it to me (waving to Robin Miller w/a Robin Caroll). I appreciated it since I moved from the West to the Southern tip of a mid-western state.

FRIENDS" VS. "SOUTHERN" FRIENDS

FRIENDS: Never ask for food.
SOUTHERN FRIENDS: Always bring the
food. And lots of it.

FRIENDS: Will say "hello".
SOUTHERN FRIENDS: Will give you a big
hug and a kiss. More than one.

FRIENDS: Call your parents Mr. And Mrs.
SOUTHERN FRIENDS: Call your parents
Mom and Dad, and often.

FRIENDS: Have never seen you cry.
SOUTHERN FRIENDS: Cry with you. And for you.

FRIENDS: Will eat at your dinner table and leave.
SOUTHERN FRIENDS: Will spend hours
there, talking, laughing, and just being together.
Then do the dishes before leaving

FRIENDS: Know a few things about you.
SOUTHERN FRIENDS: Could write a book
with direct quotes from you. And most of the
time know you better than you do yourself.

FRIENDS: Will leave you behind if that's
what the crowd is doing.
SOUTHERN FRIENDS: Will kick the whole
crowd's back-ends that left you, then walk
beside you in the front of the crowd.

FRIENDS: Would knock on your door.
SOUTHERN FRIENDS: Walk right in and
say, "Are you home?" If you are not home, they will wait.

FRIENDS: Are for a while.
SOUTHERN FRIENDS: Are for life. And then some.
I have been Blessed with SOUTHERN FRIENDS

As Robin says so well....LOVE Y'all!

Oh Cheryl.....I LOVE this post! And how true it is, I can honestly say. I'm a southern girl through and through...Georgia-born and have lived here all my life - LOL! :) ~ Bless your heart...I hope you'll be all well soon. And if you lived here in Georgia I'd bring you a plate of brownies and a pitcher of sweet iced tea!!
Hugs, Patti Jo Moore :)

Praying for your complete healing & recovery soon!

How perfect! Read this to Mom, and she concurred on most of it! We're southern through & through except, we lived in Southern California long enough to stop automatically putting sugar in the tea and offer it on the side. That's what we'd bring with the brownies, but we'd bring the sugar, too, in case you wanted any! It's getting so our friends & family prefer brownies to cake! All warm & fudgy!

To be fair, we had "Southern-style" friends in RI, IL (Waukegan)and HI, as well as other places where we had Southern-born friends. It's a special thing, and, Squirl-girl, Mom and I consider you a Southern Friend!

Never ever wanted to think of myself as a Southern girl because... I'm a Northern girl born and bread, but your list reminds me of what I know to be true. When you are friends in Christ you're friends forever. I'll stick with you through thick and thin just as you've done for me, no matter what the latitude.

Love you.
