This came from someone in my local writer's group. I laughed SO hard because this sounds exactly like the kind of thing my kids would say/do.
Jake is 5 and learning to read. He points at a picture in a zoo book and says ,
"Look Mama! It's a frickin' Elephant !"
Deep breath ... "What did you call it ?"
"It's a frickin' Elephant, Mama! It says so on the picture!"
and so it does ...
"
Hooked on phonics!!! Ain't it wonderful?

That's hysterical! I have two eight year olds who are still learning to sound out big words. Good thing she was patient enough to find the true reason and not to get upset at the word used. Thanks for the laugh!
