Blush & Cringe-Naked Ladies in My Yard

Well, it appears that I caused quite a stir on Facebook yesterday. I had Twittered about the Spring flowers popping up all over my yard. Only, I guess some people don't realize that a certain kind of lily is also referred to as a "Naked Lady."

I have my Twitters feed directly into my Facebook account. And the problem with that is on Twitter, you only have 140 characters in which to say what you want. Uh...that's about 1 sentence, maybe two if you're succinct.

So anyway, because I only had so many characters to mention the flowers, I didn't go into great detail.

I typed something to the effect of, "I have a ton of Naked Ladies coming up in my yard! I am so glad to see signs of Spring." Or something similar.

Well apparently most people have never heard of Naked Ladies---the flower.

So you could only imagine the slew of responses I got from people. Some asking me to clarify (women), and others asking for the precise address (men) and others (avid garneners) sending links to the FLOWER I was referring to because they could see that I was drowning in the siege of a huge (but hilarious) misunderstanding.

Sigh....I have GOT to remember the REAL SCIENTIFIC name of these flowers from now on...which is Amaryllis belladona...

Although that name's not quite as fun as Naked Ladies....LOLOLOL!

Sigh.

Blonde,

Cheryl

I can so relate. This is why I pretty much stopped Twittering. I need to disconnect it from my FB page.

LOL! I still love Twitter because it's so easy to use. But I will be more careful about how I phrase things from now on. LOLOL!

Susan thank you for coming by my blog.

Blessings!

But you better watch out for those who think of the belladonna plant which is also known as the deadly nightshade which causes delirium and hallucinations.

Yikes! Ellen, I think I'd better stick with plastic plants. LOLOL!

hahaha...funny...i know what naked ladies are!!! My gram has them in her yard! I was SHOCKED when my grandpa said "did you see the naked ladies?" him being a Christian gentlemen and all until he had shown me the flowers in my grams yard that didn't have leaves, hence the name!

Renee, I grew up around cactuses and tumbleweeds. So I know hardly anything about plants' names. But Naken Ladies kind of sticks with a person. LOLOL!

Thanks for coming by my blog. Don't be a stranger!

I found your website and blog via Lena's interview! I've found so many new authors and read interviews of authors I'm already familiar with so she's terrific for doing that! I LOVE the Steeple Hill books so I'm looking forward to reading your newest one! I love Christian romances because I can share them with my younger cousins, mom, and grandma without having to worry about "content" so thanks for writing them :-)
